🚓 Oswestry Rural South SNT Inspires Safety and Trust at Llanymynech Pre-School Visit

Earlier today, members of the Oswestry Rural South Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) paid a special visit to Llanymynech Pre-School, bringing with them a message of safety, awareness, and community connection. PCSO Carroll and PCSO Mabe led an engaging and educational talk with the children, introducing them to the role of the police and the importance of personal safety.

They explained their purpose in the community—to help people and keep everyone safe. They reassured the children that the police are friendly and approachable, encouraging trust and understanding from a young age.

🚶 Staying Safe Near Roads and When Walking
Key safety tips were shared, including the importance of holding a parent or guardian’s hand when walking near traffic and always being aware of surroundings. These steps were made fun and easy to remember for the children.

🚲 Cycling Safety Basics
The children learned about cycling safely, with reminders to always wear helmets and bright clothing to stay visible on the road.

🛍️ What to Do if You Get Lost in a Shop
One important part of the talk focused on what to do if you become separated from a parent or carer in a shop or when out and about. The officers advised that children should:

Excitement peaked when the children had the opportunity to see a real police vehicle up close. They listened to the sirens and watched the flashing blue lights, adding a hands-on and memorable experience to the visit.

Throughout the visit, officers repeated the reassuring message: “Never be afraid of the police—we’re here to help. If you're in trouble, run towards us, not away.”
